Logos successfully launches IRU World Congress 2018, Oman (7-8 November 2018)

Logos is proud to have contributed to the success of the first edition of the IRU World Congress 2018 in Muscat, Oman. Logos supported IRU in developing the programme of the conference as well as organising a ministerial dialogue between representatives from the public and private sectors.

During the closing plenary, Umberto de Pretto, IRU Secretary General, congratulated the team for providing the richest programme the organisation ever showcased. Journalists John Defterios (CNN) and Jorn Madslien (former BBC) also stated that the Congress had the richest programme they had ever seen in any event.

The congress saw the participation of leading representatives from the public and private sectors. Among them, one can list José Manuel Barroso, Chairman of Goldman Sachs International and former European Commission President, Joachim Drees, CEO of MAN, Pierre Lahutte, CEO of IVEC, E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, Oman, John Defterios, journalist, CNN, and many others (see full list of speakers’ lineup here).

Our contribution was highly valued by congress participants, the IRU and its executive team. We have high hopes to win a new mandate to support the organisation of the next edition in 2020.

In a nutshell:

  • 1200 participants from 80+ countries (largest event in Oman ever)
  • 80+ speakers from public authorities, international organisations and private sectors from the GCC regions, Europe, Africa, and Asia
  • 30 ministerial delegations participated in an open dialogue with CEOs

Opening plenary was attended by the royal family and was aired live on national Omani television. For more information, please contact Ludovic Cartigny (ludovic.cartigny@logos-eu.com).

‘’We, The Riders”: FIM’s call for more motorcyclists visibility

Since August 2018, riders around the world can join the world-wide campaign ‘’We, The Riders. One of Logos’ oldest clients – the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) is the creator of this initiative.  The campaign, launched at the Austrian round of MotoGP, is a new movement of responsible motorcyclists who share the joy of riding and the fight for safer roads.

On 10 October 2018 the campaign was officially introduced in Brussels. During FIM‘s Annual Policy Debate ‘Riders & Drivers: Fighting Invisibility Together’, organised with the support of the Logos Public Affairs team, policy makers, industry representatives and the motorcycling community were presented with FIM’s vision for roads built and planned with everyone in mind. The event was co-hosted by MEP Wim van de Camp, EPP Coordinator of TRAN Committee and MEP Karima Delli, TRAN Committee Chair.

We The Riders Campaign focus on the theme “visibility” – the need for riders to be seen in traffic  but also to be visible to decision makers as motorcycling is so often overlooked.   The FIM stands with the riders who take their responsibility and, together, we all demand that others take theirs. Partners of the campaign are Dorna, the Red Bull Ring circuit, ACEM, and many MotoGP stars.

The campaign was also endorsed by  the European Commissioner for Transport Mrs Violeta Bulc and Mr Jean Todt, President of the FIA and UN Special Ambassador for Road Safety. This campaign is a contribution by the FIM to the United Nations Decade of Action.
