Committees’ Cards on the Table: Meet the Full-House of the European Parliament

The Parliament’s Committees names are out! Two months ago, logos had fun guessing who was going to form the new Committees in Energy, Mobility and Sustainability, by creating a playing card deck.

The results are in now, and it’s time to see how our predictions went. We updated our playing cards based on the freshly elected committees. Dive right into the new players and look out for the golden stars, which signals who our PA experts foresaw.

If you are wondering what ITRE, ENVI, and TRAN are up to, look no further. Simply put, the roles of Chair, Vice-Chair, and Coordinator will be crucial in influencing this mandate’s legislation. The Chair presides over committee and coordinators’ meetings, represents the committee both within and outside the European Parliament, and presides over legislative negotiations led by the committee. Furthermore, the Chair has authority over voting procedures and rules on the admissibility of amendments.

The Committee Chair and Vice-Chairs form the bureau, which is responsible for their respective committee’s smooth functioning, while the Coordinators, one for each political group, choose the Rapporteurs. The committee bureau holds office for two and a half years (half of the legislature).
