5GAA @MWC Barcelona: leveraging a leading industry event to boost visibility

The GSMA MWC series – formally known as the Mobile World Congress – is the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry. It incorporates a thought-leadership conference featuring prominent executives representing global mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors, and content owners. Participants flock from all corners of the world to stay abreast of the latest cutting-edge technologies and debate the trends shaping the industry (e.g. 5G, connectivity). MWC Barcelona welcomes more than 2,000+ global companies.

The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) brings together more than 130 companies from the automotive, technology, and telecommunications industries (ICT). This global cross-industry coalition is developing end-to-end solutions that will shape future mobility and autonomous driving. 5GAA is fully managed by MCI and logos.


For the 5GAA, MWC Barcelona is an essential sounding board. MCI-logos endeavoured to run a high-profile conference to position 5GAA as the leading industry coalition upending the future of connected mobility. The challenge was to:

  • Create an attractive programme involving association members and industry influencers from across the globe;
  • Cut through the noise of MWC and appeal to media influencers and journalists to ensure proper event coverage.

To deliver such a successful visibility and positioning opportunity for 5GAA, MCI-logos:

  • Designed an event programme moderated by a professional journalist;
  • Identified and managed the speakers representing both member companies and public officials;
  • Engaged with targeted media, coordinating tailored interview opportunities;
  • Designed and facilitated a press tour (e.g. meetings and interviews with industry experts, visits of 5GAA member booths, curated press pack).
  • 300+ selected attendees out of 2,000+ registered participants
