With the Climate Law setting a 55% emissions reduction target by 2030, the proposals seek to strengthen the standards and boost the clean energy and mobility uptake. However, the extension of the current EU emissions trading scheme (ETS) to the transport sectors promises not to be an easy battle.

Recently, more and more pledges on both sides of the Atlantic are vowing to not only revive EU-US cooperation but to elevate it to new heights, in many areas including in the fight against climate change. Cooperation will be necessary, as will competition.
